November 6th, The Alabama Bulldogs (5-3) faced off against the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils (2-7). After getting back into the win column the week before, the Bulldogs didn’t let the gas off the brakes and continued to on another powerful showing. After a forced three and out from the Bulldog defense, the offense got right to work with Ibrahim and Anderson doing the bulk of the work. Ibrahim with three consecutive catches then wide receiver Odieu Hilare launched a 48-yard pass to Dee Anderson, stunning the defense. The very next drive though Mississippi Valley came right back to get a score of their own, this one ending with Quarterback Jalani Eason rushing one in from the nine-yard line.
The next drive resulting in a score would come in the second, with Dee Anderson again capping things off on a seven-yard reception, giving the Bulldogs a14-7 lead after the Spencer Corey kick. Mississippi Valley continued to struggle after Bulldog safety Trenton McGee forced a fumble, resulting in a touchback. The next drive was highlighted by Nashville running back Harold Jemison jr, as he broke free for a 57-yard rush. Dee Anderson continued his dominance with another touchdown putting A&M up two scores. From then on out, the game would just be Alabama A&M imposing their will on the Delta Devils defense.
With receiving touchdowns from Bryson Clark, Odieu Hilare and a one-yard Quarles touchdown run to put the team up a massive 42-7. MSVU would lower the score differential a bit with a mid-fourth quarter touchdown from Jacory Rankin. Alabama A&M would win the game 42-14 with a big 28 point differential. Important stats for the game included 172 yards from junior back Harold Jemison, Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim with seven receptions for 78-yards, Zabrian Moore with only three catches but for 133 yards and senior running back Gary Quarles with 56 yards and a touchdown. The defense was lead by cornerback Amari Holloway with ten tackles. Trenton McGee also had six tackles and a forced fumble as well.
On this special edition episode of The Bite, the crew gathered up and played “What’s in the Box.” Afterwards in a Q&A segment featuring questions from the viewers, the team discussed what can take HBCU football to the next level, pregame routines and what differentiates them from other squads they’re up against. Rounding everything out Dee, Howard and the rest of the team gave some thoughts on their first impressions coming to Alabama A&M.
